OTTAWA FILM OFFICE ANNOUNCES 2020-2021 BOARD

Local entrepreneur Kevin Bourne joins distinguished Board comprised of leaders in business, tourism, and economic development

Ottawa, September 1, 2020 – The Ottawa Film Office, the local not-for-profit organization dedicated to growing Ottawa’s film and television industry, is pleased to announce the re-election of several Board members. In addition to re-electing six Board members, the members unanimously approved during its AGM the appointment of local entrepreneur and journalist Kevin Bourne, co-founder and editor of SHIFTER magazine, for a two-year term.

“I’m grateful for my Board colleagues’ continued confidence in me as Chair of the Ottawa Film Office”, says Catherine Callary. “Despite a difficult year, Ottawa’s film and television industry is continuing to see significant growth. I look forward to the term ahead, which will include further strengthening Ottawa’s prominence as a production location, and that prominence should continue to increase as we get closer to breaking ground on the soundstage campus.”

“I’m honoured to join the Board at the Ottawa Film Office, especially at such a critical time for the city and the creative industries,” says Kevin Bourne. “Ottawa is growing and we’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to what we can do as a film, television, video game, and animation city. The OFO has a big vision for Ottawa and I look forward to doing my part to help grow this very important and exciting industry.”

Ottawa Film Commissioner Bruce Harvey welcomed Kevin’s appointment, saying “Kevin’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the entertainment industry, along with his entrepreneurial mindset, makes him a great addition to the Board. As we reach the halfway mark of our 2018-2023 strategic plan, Kevin’s expertise and guidance will be instrumental as we continue accomplishing the goals set forth by the Board.”

The film office’s Board members serve in a voluntary capacity, providing oversight to all corporate activities.
