Kwende Kefentse
Executive Director, CKCU FM
Kwende is the inaugural executive director of CKCU FM, Canada’s original campus-community radio station. Over the last 20 years he has crafted a unique path in the Canadian cultural sector and music industry. As DJ Memetic of TIMEKODE he’s been cultivating progressive underground dancefloor experiences monthly, and releasing music for over 15 years. Music career highlights include opening for Barack Obama, Nas and other luminaries. As a policy maker he led the development of the City of Ottawa’s council approved Music Strategy, and of the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition among other city-wide strategic cultural initiatives. Kwende holds an MRes from the Bartlett School of Architecture and has a keen interest in quantitative and statistical research methods. He sits on the board of several distinguished cultural organisations, including FACTOR as the first Diversity and Inclusion observer, the Carleton University Art Gallery and the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition.
