Ottawa – The Ottawa Film Office (OFO), the local not-for-profit organization dedicated to growing Ottawa’s film and television industry, is thrilled to share that several locally-made films and series were nominated for 2023 Canadian Screen Awards. The nominees for the awards, which honour and celebrate the country’s top talent, were announced this morning for the film, television, and digital media categories.

“One of Ottawa’s biggest strengths as a growing and attractive production destination is the city’s remarkable breadth of talent,” says Ottawa Film Commissioner Sandrine Pechels de Saint Sardos. “Seeing so many local projects, in both live-action and animation, recognized by the Canadian Screen Awards demonstrates our region’s ability to deliver high-quality, world-class projects. The OFO congratulates everyone involved with this year’s impressive list of nominations!”

“These nominations recognize the hard work and commitment to filmmaking in the Ottawa industry,” adds Shane Boucher, CEO and Producer at 1Department Entertainment Services and an OFO Board member. “1Department, and all of the other local companies, work very hard to maintain our city’s reputation for producing high-quality TV movies, and I’m extremely proud and grateful to everyone who contributed to these successes.”

The awards presentations are scheduled to take place the week of April 11, 2023, in Toronto, culminating with a special one-hour televised presentation hosted by Samantha Bee on April 16.
